Several election offices in Maryland and California received bomb threats on Friday, according to state officials. Police later confirmed the threats were false and no explosives were found.

Maryland State Election Administrator Jared DeMarinis said that some buildings were evacuated due to threats, but local officials will continue counting today.

“We are working with law enforcement and federal partners on these recent events. NOTHING will deter us from our mission,” he wrote in a post on X.

Voter registrars in California’s Orange and Riverside counties also received bomb threats, resulting in office buildings being briefly evacuated.

“We are working diligently to resolve this incident and keep all staff and the public who visit our office safe,” Orange County Registrar of Voters Bob Page said in a statement. he said.
