This Huge Flea Market in Southern California Has Its Own Bar

I don’t know you but I love you farmers marketsarts and crafts fairs and vintage stores. You never know what treasures you might come across. I recently learned about probably the coolest weekly market in Los Angeles. So what makes Melrose Trading Post so special? Let’s take a look.

The Melrose Trading Post has been held every Sunday on the campus of Fairfax High School in Los Angeles since 1997. Once you start exploring you’ll realize it’s so much more than your average flea market; is an incredible art-based, ever-evolving marketplace.

Melrose Trading Post is home to 275 local creatives, entrepreneurs, professional artists and other small businesses.

Sellers include rare and vintage collectibles, second-hand items, vintage fashion, antique furniture, leather goods, clothing and accessories, and much more.

alternative

You’ll find one-of-a-kind crafts, eclectic artisan items, and innovative creations made with vintage items that are often repurposed.

alternative

How about this for creativity – clocks made from classic books and novels!

alternative

Some stands resemble a farmer’s market, selling fresh flowers and beautiful live plants.

alternative

Multiple stages feature live performances each week featuring local talent including music, poetry, spoken word, dance performances, live theater and more. Melrose Mornings offers special family fun events each week as the market progresses.

alternative

Shoppers enjoy a wide variety of gourmet and international food trucks and vendor stands. There are picnic areas on the lawn and plenty of tables and umbrellas for refueling, listening to live performances and relaxing between shopping sessions.

alternative

The market is operated by the nonprofit Greenway Arts Alliance. Proceeds enabled the organization to establish the Greenway Court Theatre, a full-production theater and creative space on the school campus, and led to the establishment of the Greenway Art Institute, which offers free Arts programs to students.

Melrose Trading Post also serves to provide real-world education and work experience to volunteer and paid students.

The weekly market in Los Angeles is open every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Learn all about the market, hours, Melrose Morning activities, vendors and more at www.
