A 21-year-old youth died after slipping and falling from a height of about 20 feet while trying to repair a serial light at the Chennai airport on Sunday afternoon. The young man, who was seriously injured later in the night, was taken to the hospital and died.

According to the airport police, the deceased has been identified as K. Selvamani of Marakkanam. It was hired by a private contract company to install serial lights at the Chennai airport.

He accidentally slipped and fell while working outside the Selvamani international terminal around 2 pm on Sunday afternoon. He received serious injuries. Other workers took him to Government Chromepet Hospital where first aid was given. He was later referred to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital (RGGGH) where he was admitted for treatment. He later succumbed to his injuries.
