Inside McDonald’s plan to launch a ‘McValue’ deal: Here’s how much you could save

McDonald’s is reportedly continuing its strategy of offering cheap meal packages through 2025.

The chain’s latest ‘McValue’ gambit builds on the $5 meal deal it introduced this summer, allowing customers to choose a $1 add-on. CNBC reported.

McDonald’s $5 deal includes a McChicken or McDouble, four-piece chicken wings, fries and a drink.

Next year, customers who purchase this meal will be able to add any of the following for just one dollar: a double cheeseburger; McChicken sandwich; six-piece chicken nuggets and small fries; or breakfast options consisting of a Sausage McMuffin, sausage biscuit or sausage burrito and hash browns.

The $5 deal has been extended by most franchisees through the end of 2024 and will continue through next year if this buy one, get one for $1 tweak is approved.

Operators are still voting on 2025 value propositions, but the initiative will likely be adopted, two people familiar told CNBC.

The problem is caused by a faulty part in most espresso machines

It could be up to three weeks before many McDonald’s restaurants start serving espresso-based drinks while machine manufacturer Melitta investigates the faulty part in the espresso machines.

McDonald’s faced another setback this week when it came to its espresso machines.

Melitta, the manufacturer of the chain’s espresso machines, warned franchisees in a letter that there was a defective part in the machines: Wall StreetJournal reported.

According to the letter, the malfunction could cause steam to forcefully escape from the machine and cause the part to break.

Melitta told restaurateurs not to use the machines for three weeks while they investigated the problem and inspected the espresso machines.

Lattes, mochas, macchiatos, cappuccinos and other espresso-based drinks were not available at some McDonald’s locations in New York City and Chicago on Wednesday.

McDonald’s said this issue affects a limited number of drinks on the menu, and hot and iced coffees can still be ordered.
