Sacco assisted Boston’s previous three bench bosses (Claude Julien, Bruce Cassidy and Montgomery), all of whom won the Jack Adams Award during their Bruins tenures. Sacco also has four seasons of head coaching experience with the Colorado Avalanche (2009-13), where he went 130-134-13.

“We have good players in this room and they are capable of doing more,” Sacco said after Wednesday’s practice. “It’s our job as a coaching staff to make sure we get that success out of them, and I think that starts with our work ethic.”
