PRATHER, Calif. — A new restaurant has opened its doors in the small community of Prather.

From a food vendor to bricks and mortar, every family’s dream has come true.

The Alonso Garcia family celebrated the opening of their new restaurant, Martin’s Grill, with cheers, big smiles and tight hugs on Wednesday morning.

“We’ve been a very entrepreneurial family ever since I can remember,” said Bryan Alonso Garcia, 20, owner of Martin’s Grill.

Bryan is the young entrepreneur behind the family affair, but he says it took teamwork and determination to grow the business into what it is today.

In 2019, the family sold ready-made meals for nurses and athletes.

Soon after, they attended community events with canopy and grill; Brianna, the youngest, remembers having busy nights.

“We started with a canopy and some days it would just be me and my dad, and that was hard, especially in the summer,” Brianna explained.

They bought a food truck in 2023 and took a leap of faith about five months ago when the former Mexican restaurant went up for sale.

Martin’s Grill serves traditional Mexican, Oaxacan, Italian and Mediterranean dishes.

Bryan says his father’s talent as a chef is a big reason why customers remain loyal.

“It was such an exciting opportunity to do this with my family, especially relying on them for the most effective methods through the ups and downs of the business,” said Bryan.

Bryan said the food trailer will continue to be featured at local events!
