Re-elected President Donald Trump focused on social media. Sentencing of Jose Ibarra in the murder of UGA student Laken Riley.

Trump posted a message on X, formerly known as Twitter, about the 10-guilty verdict given to Ibarra, saying it was justice for Riley.

“JUSTICE FOR LAKEN RILEY! The Outlaw who murdered our beloved Laken Riley was found GUILTY on all counts for the terrible crimes he committed. While the pain and heartbreak will last forever, I hope this can help bring some peace and closure to his wonderful fighting family. For Justice And to make sure other families don’t have to go through what you went through, we love you Laken and our hearts will always be with you. It’s time to secure our border and eliminate these criminals and bandits so nothing like this can happen again!”

Ibarra, an undocumented immigrant from Venezuela. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole Wednesday afternoon. He was found guilty of malice murder, aggravated murder, kidnapping with bodily injury, aggravated assault with attempted rape, and other charges.

The case has become a hot topic amid Trump’s 2024 campaign amid tighter border restrictions.
