State Representative Gen Wu sponsors the event and highlights what it looks like to shine a light on the power of adoption in a newsletter.

Although Adoption Day is actually on Nov. 23 each year, Harris County’s event kicks off at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Harris County Juvenile Justice Center on Congress St.

The celebration will also highlight the final steps taken for dozens of children who found their homes.

“There are currently approximately 5,000 children waiting for forever homes in Texas,” Wu said in a news release. “Many of these children have been waiting for years. Each of them deserves a loving and wonderful home. We need more good people to consider adoption. “I hope people come and see how much these children contribute to the families that adopt them.”
