17-Year-Old Boy Allegedly Beaten and Locked in Dog Cage for Visiting Female Classmate

The 17-year-old boy, Samuel Onyeme, was allegedly beaten and locked in a dog cage after visiting his female classmate, Miss Anastasia Celestine, on Sunday evening.

The incident was reported to have occurred at around 18:00 at Mr. Celestine’s home in Asaba. Delta State.

Brutal Attack and Detention

According to Samuel’s mother, Mrs. Onyeme, her son is a final year student at Redeemers. International High SchoolHe was invited to his home by Anastasia.

While they were talking outside, Samuel was brutally attacked by Anastasia’s father and his two sons.

“They attacked him on the street, dragged him into their house and caused him severe physical injuries. They used wooden planks and locked him in a dog cage,” Ms. Onyeme recounted.

Samuel’s mobile phone was seized during the attack and his mother was tricked into arriving at the scene, but was denied access to her son for two hours.

Mrs Onyeme’s daughter Jessica was also attacked when she tried to call for help.

Recovery and Legal Action

The situation worsened when Samuel’s older brother Ben contacted a family friend who reached out to a human rights organisation.

Police officers were mobilized and rescued Samuel from the dog cage around 10pm that night.

Human rights activist Victor Ojei, who reported the incident to the Delta State Police Command, described the action as follows: barbaric and inhumane.

Ojei petitioned the Police Commissioner. Delta State Police The Command requests the immediate investigation and prosecution of Mr. Celestine and his sons for kidnapping, illegal detention, assault and attempted murder.

Ongoing Investigation

Samuel is currently receiving treatment at the Asaba Specialist Hospital for physical injuries and psychological trauma.
