BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – A woman with an aggressive form of cancer is getting the chance to showcase her one-of-a-kind collection of birth scenes.

Shirley Colgrove has been collecting sets for over 30 years, some from London and even as far away as Nigeria.

They are now on display at: Reliance Baptist Church for everyone to see.

“He started collecting in the ’80s and enjoyed collecting them all his life,” said Robbin Colgrove, Shirley’s daughter. “Most of them were gifts, and he was traveling with his job and getting them from different countries.”

Shirley has an aggressive form of colon cancer and has not had the opportunity to perform her sets in their entirety until now.

“I think it’s a great collection to see how different artists interpret the nativity scene in different ways and how different cultures interpret it,” Greg Ellis said.

Although Shirley and Robbin couldn’t choose their favorite scene, they agree it’s the perfect opportunity to kick off the holiday season with a story told around the world.

“Each one is unique and very special, but they all tell the same story, the story of the birth of Jesus,” Colgrove said.
