Police say 3 minors have been charged after reports of a car break-in led to a chase

LECLAIRE, Iowa (KWQC) – Police say three minors have been charged after a report of a car break-in in LeClaire.

Authorities received a report of people passing vehicles in the Pebble Creek area at 2 a.m. Monday morning, according to a media release. When a police officer arrived, he saw a car leaving the area.

The officer tried to stop the car, but authorities said the car then drove toward Bettendorf. Police determined the car had recently been stolen from Moline.

Officers were able to stop the car using stop sticks near 2nd Avenue and Howell Street in Davenport.

Six people then fled the vehicle, three of whom were arrested, according to police.

The three men were charged with first-degree burglary and interference with official acts. Additional charges are expected, officials said.

Police said they found several vehicles stolen in the Pebble Creek area before the initial report came in.

Another car was reported stolen at 7 a.m. Saturday, and a resident living in the same neighborhood reported his car stolen. Authorities said it was unclear whether the incidents were related to Monday’s chase.

LeClaire police said they wanted to remind residents to lock vehicles because every vehicle that was burglarized over the weekend was left unlocked.
