INDIANAPOLIS – One person was killed in a shooting on the east side of Indianapolis on Monday evening.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to the 8700 block of E. Washington Street on reports of a person shot just after 6 p.m.

Officers arrived on scene and found an adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to a local hospital in critical condition and later died.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim once his family is notified.
