Biden and Trudeau miss traditional group photo with world leaders at G20

US President Joe Biden was inadvertently a missing man in the traditional photo of world leaders at the final Group of 20 summit of his presidency on Monday; It was a photo shoot failure that US officials attributed to timing.

Instead, Biden and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau walked up after photographers took the official photo; Other world leaders smiled and held hands for the photo and then got into conversation.

The timing left Chinese President Xi Jinping front and center among leaders posing against blue skies and blue water in Rio de Janeiro.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov was standing in the back row, less visible.

A senior Biden administration official who was not authorized to comment publicly said Biden and other leaders missed the photo due to “logistical issues.” Biden had planned to be part of the photo, but it happened earlier than planned.

Biden and Trudeau came together to the spot designated for the photo and stood for a while and looked around. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni did not attend the group photo, which is a set part of such summits.
