Cuyahoga County corrections officer pleads guilty to 2 misdemeanors, resigns

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – Former Cuyahoga County Correctional Institution. The sheriff’s department confirmed that Austin Casto pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor charges and resigned from office.

The Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Department said Casto pleaded guilty Nov. 18 to attempted abuse with a bodily substance, a first-degree misdemeanor.

Casto was sentenced to six months in prison for two misdemeanors, according to the CCSD.

CCSD said he was suspended without pay until criminal charges were adjudicated.

He resigned from his position as a Cuyahoga County Correctional Center officer on Monday, CCSD said.

Casto also agreed to never be assigned as a corrections officer in the future, according to the CCSD.
