Chicago man sentenced for armed bank robbery: ‘serious, violent, criminal conduct’

A. Chicago man sentenced to series of penalties armed bank robberies He terrorized customers and staff in 2020 and 2021.

Christopher Porter, 53, robbed a bank in Evergreen Park and two more in Chicago, pointing a gun at tellers and customers in each incident.

In one of the robberies, Porter put a customer in a headlock, pointed a gun at his head, and pinned him against a wall.

The jury convicted Porter on three counts of robbery and firearms offenses in 2022.

“The defendant terrorized innocent bank tellers and customers,” Assistant U.S. Attorneys Thomas Peabody and Paige Nutini said in court in Chicago. “The brief bank robberies were serious, violent and criminal conduct.”

Porter was sentenced to 20 years in prison last Thursday.
