(NEW YORK) – A man who allegedly killed two people and injured a third in a stabbing attack in Manhattan has been taken into custody, authorities said.

The first victim, a 30-year-old construction worker, was fatally attacked at 8:22 a.m. Monday on West 19th Street, the NYPD said.

About two hours later, another man was fatally stabbed on East 30th Street, police said.

The third victim, who was attacked on East 46th Street around 10:55 a.m., was in critical condition, police said.

The suspect, a 51-year-old resident of the Bellevue Men’s Shelter on East 30th Street, allegedly caused an argument with the victims, according to police. Police said they chose the victims at random.

Police said two knives were seized.
