Stark County Sheriff’s deputies were called to Sheridan and Goe’s apartment in the 4100 block of Orchard Dale Drive NW on July 2 around 12:30 p.m. after Sheridan’s mother requested a welfare check.

Sheriff Maier said the door to the apartment was open and no one was inside, but deputies requested a search warrant because the scene was “suspicious.”

While waiting for the warrant, deputies say they saw a burgundy Jeep Liberty, believed to be registered to Sheridan, traveling on Guilford Ave NW.

Deputies said the driver, identified as Goe, fled on foot into a dense, wooded area after being stopped.

After several hours of searching, Goe was arrested early the next morning.

Deputies said Goe also had active arrest warrants for burglary, grand theft of a firearm and domestic violence.

According to court documents, Goe allegedly stole a handgun from a North Canton residence in April and May, physically threatened Sheridan and punched holes in his tires.

Goe’s trial lasted four days in Stark County Common Pleas Court.

He faces prison time on charges of murder, burglary, aggravated assault, tampering with evidence, grand larceny when property is a firearm or dangerous regulation, and aggravated abuse of a corpse.
