“Employment and inflation are the main issues and we have clearly said that our focus is to help women. Every woman will be given 3000 rupees every month and free bus rides will be given to them. The Congress leader also focused on solving unemployment and promised Rs 4,000 monthly allowance to the unemployed and promised to fill 2.5 lakh vacant government positions.

Talking about caste census and reservation policy, he emphasized the importance of doing this in Maharashtra, stating that it would provide a clearer picture of the demographic and social composition of the state.

“We will conduct a caste census in Maharashtra, as we did in Telangana and Karnataka, to get a clear picture of participation and population… Caste census is the pillar of our strategy. We will break the wall of caste census. 50 per cent reservation ceiling,” he said.

“We will waive health insurance up to Rs 25 lakh for poor people, farmers and the unemployed…We will also give unemployment benefit of Rs 4000…We will also fill vacancies in 2.5 lakh government jobs,” it added.

During his speech, Gandhi criticized Gautam Adani, especially his interest in redevelopment projects in Dharavi, Mumbai’s largest slum, and argued that corporate control over land in Mumbai would change the character of the city and divert resources away from the people.
