2025 Calgary Stampede First Nations Princess crowned

Pacey Strangling Wolf was crowned the 2025 Calgary Stampede First Nations Princess at the BMO Center on Sunday afternoon.

Strangling Wolf is a 25-year-old jingle dress dancer from the Kainai nation. Blackfoot’s name is Otsskoiikitstakaii, meaning “Woman Offering Blue”.

For the past year, she has worked as the First Nations Indigenous liaison at Stathmore High School and aspires to be an educator teaching Blackfoot language or drama to our youth.

She entered the competition after a friend tagged her in a Facebook post saying she was a good role model and that she should try for the title.

Next year, Strangling Wolf plans to encourage and inspire all women and girls to do their best.

“I am a girl’s girl, a woman’s woman, I would love to empower women, especially myself. I want to feel empowered, so I want to do the same for others, and no woman is inferior, every woman is. He is at the top and I would love to see him reach the top.

He will speak to the audience at the grandstand show, where he will work to bring indigenous and non-indigenous people together as part of his role.

“I hope we can build Reconciliation together. “This is something I’ve been dealing with for over 10 years,” he says. “I hope my message will be clear to others that I want to build a stronger bridge between indigenous people and non-indigenous people and continue that growth.”

As ambassador for Elbow River Camp presented by Enbridge, the First Nations Princess also touches on the historic partnership between Stoney Nakoda, Kainai, Piikani, Siksika and Tsuut’ina First Nations and families from the Calgary Stampede.

Sultry Wolf and 2025 Calgary Stampede Princess Breanna Correia will serve as ambassadors for the Calgary Stampede.

Next year’s Calgary Stampede will be held July 4-13.
