DELAWARE COUNTY, Pa. – A local school district is warning its staff and parents about a “serious matter” involving one of its employees.

“Given our commitment to transparency and ongoing communication with the community, and as a result of the public release of a charging document, I can now share with deep concern that Mr. Siegel, one of our middle school counselors, has been charged,” Penn-Delco Principal Dr. George Steinhoff said in a letter to the community. said: “Offenses related to offenses related to possession of child pornography.”

The district said no charges were filed when they first became aware of the alleged criminal activity and no timeline for possible charges was provided.

“The district was not notified that the charges were recent and learned of this secondhand,” Steinhoff said.

But the district said police assured them that none of the crimes occurred on school property and did not involve current or former students.

Siegel was immediately suspended from school, placed on leave and had no contact with students, according to the district, which said all of his certifications and background checks were up to date.

Counselors and school psychologists were made available to all students while the school searched for a new counselor to replace Siegel during the investigation.
