WALTHALL COUNTY, Miss. (WDAM) – One person was killed and two more were injured in a shooting early Sunday morning in the Sandy Hook area just above the Marion County line in Walthall County.

Walthall County Sheriff Kyle Breland said deputies responded to the scene a few minutes after midnight Sunday and found at least three people suffering from gunshot wounds when they arrived.

It was stated that one of the injured people died at the scene and the other two people were taken to the hospital. The severity of the injuries was not stated.

A third person also suffered injuries requiring hospitalization. That person’s condition was not specified.

No arrests had been made or any suspects emerged as of early Sunday evening, Breland said.

The investigation is ongoing and the crime scene is still swarming with Walthall County deputies and investigators.
