Three family members jailed for €20,000 theft are members of the notorious Cock-Wall gang

Edward Wall (52), Martin Wall (45), Patrick Wall (21) pleaded guilty during a hearing into the burglary in Killiney on February 19, 2021, earlier this year.

The elderly, aged between 83 and 79, were unaware of the incident because they were in a different part of the bungalow at the time of the theft.

The three men initially pleaded not guilty but changed their pleas to guilty in June when a lawyer told the court: “There is no Wall left standing as a judge. “It all collapsed.”

The men are part of a notorious gang suspected of stealing.

In a separate case earlier this year, charges were dropped against Martin Wall for a 2019 incident in which Jim Mansfield Jr. was allegedly threatened with a sword.

A hearing heard Wall will vehemently deny charges relating to the Mansfield incident, which include false imprisonment and assault.

He was first charged in connection with that alleged incident in 2019, but the State dropped the charges earlier this year.

He is currently sentenced to four years in prison for the Killiney robbery, in which €19,800 worth of gold jewelery was stolen.

Judge Elva Duffy also sentenced Edward to four years in prison and Patrick was sentenced to three and a half years in prison, with the final 12 months suspended.

The men were arrested at Mackintosh Park in Dún Laoghaire following a Garda operation.

Detective Garda Mark O’Neill, of the Drugs and Organized Crime Bureau, told the court that gardaí carried out surveillance after receiving intelligence about a gold Mercedes out of concern it would be used for criminal activity.

The court heard the car was observed driving on the M50 and was seen performing a series of anti-spy manoeuvres.

The court heard that brothers Edward and Martin stayed in the car and Patrick and another man entered the house through the bedroom window.

Det Gda O’Neill told Anne-Marie Lawlor SC, prosecuting, that the car they were in drove towards Rochestown Avenue on February 19 and eventually drove to Mackintosh Park. The court heard he ran a red light.

Gardaí later arrested the men and two others and found a number of items in the car, including a crowbar, hammer and torch.

Edward Wall, of Fortunestown Crescent, Tallaght, has 40 previous convictions. Martin Wall, of Woodbine House, Pollardstown, The Curragh, Kildare, has 12 previous convictions.

The court heard Patrick Wall, of Fortunestown Crescent, Tallaght, had four previous convictions, including one for possession of stolen property, from which €79,000 was recovered from a field in Rathcoole. He has three other convictions since this crime was committed.

Earlier this year, Patrick’s two brothers, Michael, 30, and Thomas, 39, were jailed for 18 months after they were caught in a field using a shovel and a mini digger to dig up almost €79,000 in profits from Wall, Rathcoole. from thefts.
