Family devastated after loved one fatally shot in South Los Angeles

A family was heartbroken after a loved one was found shot to death in his crashed car in a South Los Angeles alley.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department states: Deputies were called to the 2000 block of Century Boulevard near Wilton Place at 12:46 a.m. Sunday for a report of a shooting.

When they arrived at the scene, they found a woman had been shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The video shows deputies investigating a white Mercedes sedan that was blocked in an alley.

The suspect was in custody as of 7 a.m. and no statement was made by authorities. The cause of the conflict is unknown.

Jordan said his sister was found with gunshot wounds in her car, which crashed before the shooting. As for why Lanai was in South Los Angeles, Lanai’s brother says he was probably visiting a friend but doesn’t know why his car crashed or who would commit such a heinous crime.

“We know he knew someone here, and we know he was subsequently murdered,” Jordan said. “He was in his car, so we don’t even know what happened… the car was totaled and he got shot.”

Through tears, Jordan made a simple request to the public.

“He definitely didn’t deserve what happened to him,” he said. Please help. Please call the police, if you know me, call me… If you know something, please don’t stay silent because we need to catch the person who did this. We have to.”
