ALBUQUERQUE, NM (KRQE) – An Albuquerque woman pleaded guilty in court to murdering her estranged husband on July 4, 2023.

Erica Valdez He was charged with second-degree murder and now faces up to 25 years in prison. Investigators said Valdez shot and killed Joel Valdez.

The District Attorney’s Office said Erica Valdez made multiple attempts to shoot Joel. He will be sentenced at a later date.

Valdez’s boyfriend at the time was also charged due to possible involvement in the incident.
