    Knife attack in China: Former student kills eight people in second mass attack in a week

    A former student staged a knife attack at a vocational college in eastern China; killed eight people and injured 17 others, just days after the country’s deadliest mass shooting in a decade.
    The latest stabbing took place at the Wuxi Vocational School of Arts and Technology in Yixing, part of the city of Wuxi in the eastern province of Jiangsu.

    Police said the suspect was captured at the scene and confessed to his actions.

    This is the second mass attack in China in a week.

    Authorities in the southern Chinese city of Zhuhai said they had filed a case against a 62-year-old man after a motorist crashed him on Monday. .
    The incident sparked a rare online debate about the mental health of the Chinese community and whether a recent series of high-profile attacks in other major cities reflect deeper stresses as the world’s second-largest economy slows.
    At least six more high-profile stabbing attacks have been recorded across China in 2024.
    Wuxi police said the stabbing suspect appeared angry because he did not receive his graduation certificate and failed the exam.
    “According to preliminary investigations, the suspect, surnamed Xu, male, 21 years old, 2024 graduate of the university, attacked others because he failed the exam and could not receive his graduation certificate and was dissatisfied with the internship compensation.” Yixing Domestic Security Bureau said in a statement.

    It was stated that the injured were being treated and the investigation into the incident was continuing.
