One arrested in deadly shooting in Pine County

Pine County authorities and the state’s Bureau of Criminal Apprehension were investigating a shooting Saturday that left one person dead.

Friday in St. Petersburg, the Pine County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release. He confirmed that a man was shot and killed in the 57000 block of Barns Spring Road, a few miles north of St. Croix State Park.

Authorities arrested a 31-year-old man Friday on suspicion of second-degree murder, according to jail records. The Star Tribune generally does not name suspects until they are charged.

Witnesses who saw the shooting led deputies to the suspect, who was arrested with the assistance of the Isanti County Sheriff’s Office. State records show the man lives in Lakeville.

BCA and the Pine County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the homicide. The victim’s name and identity will be released after the family is notified and an autopsy is performed, and more information about the incident will be released when a criminal complaint is filed.

Pine County is about 60 miles north of the Twin Cities.
