Las Vegas police kill home invasion victim Brandon Durham after he called 911 for help

LAS VEGAS (KABC) — Las Vegas police are investigating a shooting in which an officer killed a home invasion victim who called 911 for help.

The police arrived at the house and saw a man fighting with a woman over a knife. A police officer opened fire, killing the man at the scene. However, they later discovered that the murdered man was living in the house and was trying to resist the woman who entered his house.

Police said the man and woman knew each other and were in a relationship.

The incident occurred at around 12.40 on Tuesday.

Police said 43-year-old Brandon Durham called 911 to report multiple people shot outside his home, then told the 911 operator that someone had broken into his home through the front and back doors and locked himself in the bathroom.

He also told the 911 operator he was home with his 15-year-old daughter, according to police. Police said officers arriving at the scene kicked the door open after hearing someone screaming and damaging vehicles parked outside the property.

Police said officers found Durham and the suspect, identified as Alejandra Boudreaux, at the home fighting over a knife, resulting in an officer-involved shooting.

Boudreaux was not shot. He was arrested on charges of home invasion with a deadly weapon, assault with a deadly weapon, child abuse and domestic violence.

The officer who fired the gun is 26 years old and has been with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department since 2021. An investigation is ongoing to determine whether the officer acted appropriately when firing his weapon.
