One of the best PC survival games of last year, Forever Skyit’s finally spreading its wings and coming to PS5 next year, and console gamers have been given the chance to sample a demo that’s available now.

Forever Skies is a post-apocalyptic sci-fi survival game set on Earth, a devastated planet that looks significantly worse for wear after an “ecological disaster.” Players must gather resources to survive, while upgrading and piloting an airship to get around, as well as balancing finding a cure for a strange disease. It’s got a lot going on, and it was released in early access on Steam last June, with lots of positive reviews, cementing a ‘Very Positive’ rating on the platform (we’ve had plenty of praise for it ourselves). For over a year, the developers at Far From Home have been preparing for the launch of Forever Skies 1.0, which is hoped to be released simultaneously on both PC and PS5 next year. Existing players can expect changes to progression, random encounters, and more. Meanwhile, PS5 owners can check out a demo to get a taste of the offerings right now. And Unlock a PlayStation-exclusive skin for your airship if you complete all available objectives.

One PlayStation Blog postFar From Home community manager Greg Cummings says the demo will likely take players an hour and a half to two and a half hours to complete; If you just follow the objectives you can expect it to take close to an hour. There’s obviously a lot the demo won’t be able to show off in that amount of time—notably, you can’t explore beneath the toxic dust during the demo—but the “vertical slice” aims to offer “a smooth introduction to some of our best features.” “

Forever Skies still doesn’t have a firm release date on PS5, and at the time of writing it was planned for next year. But a Steam blog post It says that version 1.0 of the survival game is expected to be released “in the first few months of 2025,” so if the developers can release it on both platforms simultaneously as planned, then it doesn’t look like there’ll be much time to wait.
