RANKIN CO., Miss. (WLBT) – Authorities are investigating a fatal crash involving two vehicles.

The Rankin County Sheriff’s Office says it responded to the crash on Florence-Byram Road near Long Drive on Friday around 6:28 p.m.

Fire crews arriving at the scene noticed that two people were stuck in one of the vehicles and tried to save them.

Tragically, after being rescued from the vehicle, one of its occupants died.

The victim’s name is not being released at this time.
