Sinkhole repair in Far East El Paso could take weeks

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — El Paso County says its Public Works Department is working to repair a “significant sinkhole” and road damage in Far East El Paso.

The sinkhole occurred along Mission Ridge Boulevard following a water main break Thursday night, Nov. 14, El Paso County said in a news release.

The incident caused “major damage” to the roadway in the northbound lanes, and both the northbound and southbound lanes of Mission Ridge are currently closed.

The county says it is working to enable two-way traffic in the southbound lanes from Crest Boulevard north to Pleasant Crest.

Repairs are expected to take several weeks, the governor’s office said.

Water service continues to be provided to residents in the affected area and no reports have been reported.
The county said there were complications with electric or gas service.

The county said the water main break and water line are part of the Paseo De Este Municipal Service District.

The county said this system does not belong to El Paso County.

The county says it got involved because of roadway issues but has no involvement or authority over the waterline.
