St. Paul police released footage from various angles showing officers approaching Mychel Stowers, who was riding a bicycle, moments before he was shot.

The shooting occurred around 1:45 p.m. on Saturday, November 9, at the intersection of Watson Boulevard and Bay Street.

In the footage, a police officer is seen firing a rifle through the window of his squad car.

Another officer fired a handgun at Stowers after he fell to the ground.

Still frames in the video provided by SPPD show Stowers holding a gun.

One person in the video was next to Stowers when he was shot. The person present appeared to be frozen as police officers opened fire and entered.

St. Paul Police Chief Axel Henry released the following statement Friday afternoon:

“We are committed to the sanctity of an independent investigation; we are also committed to the transparency of our actions. That’s why we are releasing body-worn camera (BWC) and dash camera footage of this incident. No one is seeking arrest. Not using force is always our goal, and many are the result of our officers’ interactions. We are committed to the affected families, our communities, and our officers.” “We regret this, and together as a community we can prevent these consequences in the future.”

BCA says Stowers is wanted in connection with this incident Murder of his pregnant ex-wife St. In Paul. Police responded to a tip that he was at a business in the 1100 block of West Seventh Street when they encountered a man matching his description.

According to the BCA’s preliminary investigation, a man left the business on a bicycle and when he arrived at the intersection of Watson Boulevard and Bay Street, multiple crews converged on him. Before police could confirm his identity, the man, identified as Stowers, pulled out a handgun and pointed it at police.

Stowers, who was taken to the Regional Hospital by ambulance, died there.

No one else was injured in the incident.
