Vicksburg Heritage House Care Center management called a meeting Friday of residents and their caregivers in the facility’s assisted living section, called the Heritage House Retirement Center, to discuss the facility’s immediate closure.

“Heritage House Retirement Center announces that it will close on or about December 31, 2024,” according to information provided to residents.

Heritage House, 3103 Wisconsin Ave. It is located at. The home’s website says it provides “skilled nursing, wound care, long-term care, memory care, and hospice care.”

At the meeting, residents were told that the nursing home portion of the facility would remain open, but residents in the assisted living portion would have to find other living arrangements by Dec. 31.

A letter sent to residents also stated: “If the last resident of the facility is transferred or discharged before this date (December 31), Heritage House will cease operations sooner if permitted by the Mississippi Department of Human Services.”

The facility did not immediately respond to phone and email requests for additional information.

Citizens who attended the meeting were not informed of any reason for the closure and were informed in a short time. At the meeting, residents were informed that there are currently no plans for any other company to take over management of the facility, and residents were given a list of other assisted living facilities.

The closest alternative facility is located in Raymond, Mississippi.
