The person who committed an armed attack near the church died

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. — A man is dead following a shooting in Boynton Beach Friday afternoon, police said.

The shooting occurred around 1:45 p.m. at 236 Northeast 12th Street, near the intersection of Northeast Second Street.

Police said when officers arrived on scene, they found the shooting victim, who was later pronounced dead by the Boynton Beach Fire Department.

A WPTV news crew noticed the crime scene tape posted outside the New Disciples Worship Center.

Investigators said the two men were involved in some type of altercation before the shooting.

The armed attacker escaped from the scene and is being sought by the police. A person of interest has been identified.

Detectives investigated the scene.

The victim’s name was not released.
