FRANKLIN FURNACE — A man was arrested and charged with murder after a man was found dead behind the wheel of a bullet-riddled SUV in Franklin Furnace.

At approximately 7:46 p.m. Thursday night, the Scioto County 911 center received a call about a shooting at 19 Disterdick Lane, Ironton.

When deputies and detectives arrived on scene, they found Ronnie L. Rowe, 24, of South Shore, Kentucky, dead behind the wheel of a Chevy Equinox with multiple bullet holes in it.

Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman said during the investigation, detectives learned another man was inside the Chevy at the time of the attack.

The man fled on foot and detectives were able to find him within minutes of walking on US 52 in the Franklin Furnace area.

Jacob Tyler Carver, 25, of Franklin Furnace, was identified as the attacker and taken into custody. He was taken to the sheriff’s office for further examination.

Carver was charged with first-degree felony murder. He is currently being held on a $100,000 bond and is due to appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court on Monday.

Thoroughman stated that the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation was contacted to assist in investigating the scene.

Rowe was sent to the Montgomery County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

Thoroughman stated that this is still an ongoing investigation and will result in more charges being presented to the Scioto County Grand Jury at a later date.

Anyone with information should contact Detective Sergeant Jodi Conkel at 740-351-1091.
