All lanes of the 101 Freeway in DTLA closed due to 'behavioral emergency'

All lanes of the 101 Freeway in downtown Los Angeles were closed in both directions Friday morning due to a “behavioral emergency,” authorities said.

LOS ANGELES (KABC) — All lanes of the 101 Freeway in downtown Los Angeles reopened Friday morning, an hour after it was closed in both directions due to a “behavioral emergency,” officials said.

The incident began around 7 a.m. Friday morning on the north Main Street overpass over the 101 Freeway.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, there was “a female patient experiencing a behavioral emergency on the Main St x 101 Fwy overpass.”

All lanes reopened around 8 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

“The patient is now safely at LAPD and LAFD. Firefighter/paramedics will perform an assessment,” LAFD said.

Air7 was on the scene around 7:40 a.m. as traffic was diverted off the highway. Due to the closure, traffic was blocked for kilometers on the 101 freeway.

Further details were not immediately available.
