A 19-year-old young man, who was stabbed last night allegedly by members of a youth gang in the capital’s Hazaribagh, died from his injuries this morning (November 15).

The deceased, identified as Shahadat Hossain Akbor, breathed his last at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where he was receiving treatment.

Ms. Faruk, officer-in-charge of DMCH police station, confirmed the incident to The Business Standard today and stated that Shahadat’s body has been sent to the morgue for autopsy.

OC said Shahadat lived with his family in Hazaribagh area.

According to the victim’s father, Afzal Hossain, the incident took place near Hazaribagh Park.

He said: “Some youths were caught stealing bikes in the parking area. Locals chased them and Shahadat joined the chase. At one point the gang stabbed him in the chest before escaping. He was taken to DMCH around 12:30pm last night.”
