Secretary of Defence applicant and former Fox News host Pete Hegseth In 2017, he was accused of sexual assault and investigated. As a result of the investigation, no criminal charges were filed.

Here is part of the statement provided to Mediaite by the City of Monterey Public Information Officer early Friday:

The Municipality provides the following information: 1. Date, time and location of the incident: Between 10/07/2017 at 2359 and 10/08/2017 at 07:00, 1 Old Golf Course Road 2. Date /Time of Report: 10/12/ 2017 at 12:23 3. Victim’s Name/Age: Confidential 4. Fact Circumstances surrounding the incident: Monterey Police Department, Investigated an allegation of sexual assault at 1 Old Golf Course Road. 5. General description of any injuries, items, or weapons involved: No weapons or items involved. There are bruises on the right thigh. The City of Monterey will have no further comment regarding this investigation.

According to the statement, the incident occurred between 23:59 on October 7, 2017 and 07:00 on October 8, 2017 at number 1 on Old Golf Course Road. The victim, whose identity is being withheld, had “contusions on his right thigh.”

Mediaite asked the Monterey Police Department if any charges had been filed; however, no response had been received at the time of this article’s publication.

Vanity Fair Gabriel Sherman reported An explosive piece broke on Thursday that Trump’s transition held an emergency meeting with Hegseth after learning of the alleged incident years ago.

Hegseth’s lawyer Timothy Parlatoredenied the claim Vanity Fair, “This allegation has already been investigated by the Monterey Police Department and no evidence of this has been found,” he said.

Steven Cheung, Trump’s communications director denied the allegations Vanity Fair. Mediaite also requested comment from the Trump transition team and will update this report after receiving a response.

“President Trump is nominating highly qualified and highly qualified candidates to serve in his Administration,” Cheung said. Hegseth vehemently denied all accusations and no criminal charges were filed. “We look forward to his confirmation as the United States Secretary of Defense so he can begin Day One of Making America Safe and Great Again.”
