An 18-year-old man was critically injured in an overnight stabbing in the West Loop neighborhood, Chicago police said.

Shortly after 1 a.m. Friday, the victim was walking on the first block of North Western Boulevard when multiple people approached him. Police said one of them pulled out a sharp object and struck the victim before fleeing the scene.

The victim suffered multiple cuts on his body and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, police said.

There was no one in custody and detectives were investigating.
