The thief who tried to steal the bag on the moving train was caught red-handed. The passengers first beat him and then tied his hands. When the issue of calling the police came up, the thief pleaded and said “there is no business.” Should we die if we don’t steal to make a living?

He managed to free his hands mid-conversation. He immediately took out a knife from his pocket and attacked himself, and when a passenger came to stop him, he attacked him. When the passenger’s mother came forward to intervene, he snatched the mangalsutra from her neck and ran away.

The incident was reported on the Patliputra Super Express between Itarsi and Bhusaval on the night of November 11. Passengers also recorded this on video on their mobile phones. Bhusaval GRP lodged an FIR and handed over the case diary to Itarsi GRP on Wednesday night. Posters were printed to search for the thief.

It had been half an hour since the train left Itarsi. The passengers were sleeping. Meanwhile, a thief tried to steal Rakesh Jaiswal’s bag. He woke up and turned on the alarm. Other passengers caught the thief. They beat him. Then they took off his shirt, tied his hands with it and made him sit down.

After the passengers beat the thief, they tied his hands and made him sit down.

During the interrogation, the passengers slapped the thief once again. This caused his wig to fall off. In the tug-of-war, the thief had his hands free. He then took out his knife and started hitting himself. Seeing this, all the passengers moved away from him. When Rakesh came forward to stop her, she started attacking him with a knife. He then removed his mangalsutra from his mother’s neck and ran away, showing the knife.

When the train reached Bhusaval, passengers complained to GRP about the theft of Mangalsutra and stabbing.

Itarsi GRP station officer RS Chauhan said, “video of the incident and photos of the thief have been sent to other police stations across the country. The language spoken by the thief is spoken from Jabalpur-Satna to Allahabad.”
