North Korea said that after seeing the test performance of the weapons, its leader Kim Jong Un ordered the mass production of suicide attack drones to showcase progress in their development.

The country’s state media reported on Friday that Kim visited the drone testing site on Thursday.

The report included photographs of drones with blurred images and images of an armored vehicle allegedly engulfed in flames after a drone attack.

State media reported that Kim expressed satisfaction with the “tactical and technical characteristics” of the unmanned aerial vehicles. He also underlined the need to “establish a mass production system as early as possible and move to full-scale mass production.”

Kim was quoted as saying that military authorities around the world are probably aware that drones have achieved clear successes in “major and minor conflicts.”

The leader reportedly touched upon the need to update the country’s military training in response to drone warfare.

It is believed that the statement was made for the purpose of using unmanned aerial vehicles in Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

For the first time since August, North Korea publicly announced that it had observed Kim’s suicide drone test performance.

North Korea’s five-year national defense plan, made public in 2021, called for the development of unmanned combat equipment.
