Monroe sex offender found with missing teen: Police

MONROE, NC (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A Monroe man who was on the sex offender registry was arrested after he was found with a missing teenager, according to Monroe Police.

Police say 45-year-old Stephen John Miller was found Thursday, Nov. 14, with a 14-year-old girl who was reported missing from her home in Monroe on Halloween day.

Miller was arrested and charged with the following crimes:

  • Contributing to the delinquency of a minor

  • Failure to change address – sexual offender

  • Fictitious/expired registration plate

  • Driving on a revoked license, unharmed

according to NC Sex Offender RegistryMiller was convicted in September 2016 of taking indecent liberties with a 12-year-old boy.

Miller is being held in the Union County Detention Center. His bond has not yet been determined.
