JONES COUNTY, Miss. (WDAM) _ Both drivers suffered minor injuries when two vehicles, including an unoccupied Jones County school bus, crashed Thursday afternoon.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol said troopers responded to reports of a crash on U.S. 84 in Jones County around 3 p.m. Thursday.

MHP said a 2014 KIA Soul driven by 30-year-old Kristen Bates of Monticello was traveling eastbound on US 84 when it collided with a 2010 Bluebird school bus driven by 83-year-old Gerald Touchstone of Laurel, which was southbound. over the eastbound lanes.

MHP said there were no passengers on the school bus at the time of the accident.

MHP said both drivers suffered minor injuries in the crash and were transported to a local hospital.

MHP investigation into the accident continues.
