BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. (WALA) – A Bay Minette man was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Baldwin County early this morning.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, 46-year-old Robert M. Thompson was fatally injured when the 2001 Ford Explorer he was driving crashed into an unoccupied 2001 Mack semi tractor-trailer that was disabled and on the road. Thompson was pronounced dead at the scene, ALEA said.

According to authorities, the crash happened around 5:04 a.m. today on US 31 near mile marker 11, about a mile north of Stapleton.

Police from ALEA continue to investigate the wreckage.
