2 people arrested for firearms and drugs at traffic stop

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers arrested two people on multiple felony warrants, unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of narcotics after a traffic stop on Lafayette Road.

IMPD officers arrested 27-year-old Iren Anderson and 23-year-old Emmanuel Meredith-Stewart.

On Nov. 7 at 1 p.m., IMPD officers conducted a traffic stop in the 2400 block of Lafayette Road. During the traffic stop, officers smelled marijuana from the vehicle. Officers learned the identities of both occupants of the vehicle and discovered that Anderson had a criminal record for multiple felonies, including possession of a machine gun and battery that resulted in the injury of a pregnant woman.

After the occupants of the vehicle were removed, suspected marijuana, suspected cocaine and 2 firearms were seized during the search by police teams. The Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearm and Explosives liaison team arrived at the scene and seized two firearms in the vehicle. Both firearms were equipped with extended magazines and were taken to the IMPD property room as evidence.

Anderson was arrested on warrants and previously charged with unlawful possession of a handgun, a felony. Meredith-Stewart was arrested for possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, possession of crack cocaine and possession of marijuana.
