Jennifer Garner Shared Her Easiest Focaccia Recipe and Ina Garten Said She’d Make It ASAP

If you want to take up bread baking as a hobby, focaccia is a great place to start. It requires minimal ingredients and active time to prepare, and Jennifer Garner shared a classic recipe that is both simple and delicious.

“This recipe is a gift to give to your future self,” Garner said on her Instagram account during the latest episode of her Pretend Cooking show. Fresh bread promises delicious leftovers, and focaccia is no exception. Here’s how the actor makes focaccia, which requires only 4 ingredients besides salt, water and oil.

Garner adds 4 cups all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons yeast, and 2 teaspoons salt to a bowl before whisking. Then we knead it with 2 glasses of warm water and turn it into dough. Coating the dough with olive oil, Garner covers the dough and puts it in the refrigerator to rise overnight.

The next morning, the player rolls out the dough, drizzles a little more olive oil on it, covers it again and leaves it in the refrigerator for another day. This step is optional, as the recipe used by Alexandra Stafford requires a waiting time of 12 hours or up to three days. Either way, when the dough is ready to use, she brings it to room temperature and lets it sit in the 9×13 pan she plans to bake it in. Once prepared, Garner sprinkles fresh rosemary leaves on top of the dough.

“You can use dried herbs, and if your kids don’t like herbs, you don’t need to use them at all,” she suggests. Adding a pinch of fine sea salt and another drizzle of olive oil, Garner pops the focaccia dough into the oven and lets it bake for 25 to 30 minutes. When the focaccia turns golden, she cuts it and lets it cool for 10 minutes before serving.

“Delicious and very successful,” he says at the end of the video. “Crispy and soft; the perfect combination.”
