Search continues for driver after pursuit, accident occurred near Minot

MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) – Law enforcement is searching for a pickup truck driver who they say was pursuing the state patrol before crashing into the truck and fleeing the scene.

According to a North Dakota Highway Patrol report, an officer attempted to stop the pickup truck for a seatbelt violation around 3:15 p.m. Thursday.

The report indicates the driver fled and then crashed into a tree at the intersection of 16th Street and 54th Avenue SW on Minot’s southwest border.

Investigators said the driver fled on foot and had not been located as of 8:30 p.m. They said that search efforts were continuing but that there was no threat to the public.

It was stated that the 30-year-old female passenger in the truck was not injured and remained at the scene.

The public was asked to stay away from the area while the teams searched for the driver.

Information regarding the driver’s identity has not yet been released, but anyone with information on the driver’s whereabouts can contact NDHP or local police at (701) 328-2447.
