Mike Brown Explains What Kings Need From De’Aaron Fox

Sacramento Kings achieved a clear victory over Phoenix Suns They picked up their second win in four days against the Suns on Wednesday night. Phoenix was playing without all-stars Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal, but regardless, getting a 23-point win against one of the best teams in the Western Conference was a solid boost of confidence and momentum.

Kings star forward DeMar DeRozan left Wednesday’s win in the first half with a lower back strain, so All-Star guard De’Aaron Fox had to carry the load of the offense in his absence.

Fox shined in the win against Phoenix with 29 points, 10 assists and 6 rebounds, shooting an effective 11-17 from the field.

Fox tied his season low with just two three-pointers as he drove much more efficiently to the basket rather than relying on outside shots. The star point guard made a career-high three-pointer last season, but many fans preferred to see him return to driving more often.

Following Wednesday’s win, Kings head coach Mike Brown told the media what the team “needs” from Fox (via MattGeorge | ABC10).

“That’s what we need from Fox,” Brown said of De’Aaron Fox being aggressive. “He’s the fastest guy in the league. He’s the best guard finisher in the league. But our spacing has to be right and our spacing was pretty good tonight. With him around, he’s going to go downhill. It depends.” left.”

Last season, Fox knocked down 36.9 percent of his three-point attempts, a career-high 7.8 per game. This season, DeMar is shooting less overall alongside DeRozan, but his two-point efficiency has skyrocketed, making 58.3 percent of his shots from inside the arc.

Fox is certainly one of the most explosive players in the NBA and one of the toughest defensive assignments when going downhill. The more he uses this power, the better the Kings’ offense becomes.
