At the time of the Icon’s closure, Roosevelt Collection’s property management, CBRE, said it was “in active discussions with potential new theater partners” to take over the space. AMC declined to comment on rumors that it was interested in the venue, billed by CBRE’s Deirdre Larsen as “one of the best-performing theaters in the Chicago area.”

Roosevelt Collection tenants include Ulta Beauty, H&M, Fleet Feet Sports and LensCrafters.

When it opened in 2009, Icon was considered one of Chicago’s first luxury movie theaters equipped with VIP seating. It offered top-notch sound and projection, custom-designed seating and a lounge serving specialty drinks, plus mini pizzas and sandwiches. Customers who purchased premium tickets had access to the complex’s spacious VIP lounges.
