Here’s the latest update as CSX continues to close railroad crossings in Escambia County for maintenance, and we’ve learned that temporary crossings will be constructed for at least two neighborhoods that will be the only access points.

Escambia County officials said Thursday the following closures are planned:

• East Kingsfield Road
• Old Chemstrand Road
• Archer Road (Rear open. Possible closed on Monday)

It is expected to be asphalted on Thursday:

• East Roberts Road
• 10 Mile Road

It is expected to open by Thursday morning:

• East Olive Road
• Ensley Road
• East Nine Mile Road (now open)

Escambia County officials said temporary closures will be in place at Woodbury Circle (the only entrance to Cantonment Heights) and Becks Lake Road (the only entrance to that area). CSX has not yet committed to a temporary crossing for Countri Lane, which has a single access point to these residences, officials said. Closing dates for Woodbury, Becks Lake and Country have not yet been announced but are expected within the next few days.

All CSX crossings in Escambia County will be closed or closed. In the project, which started on November 4, each railway crossing will be closed for approximately 24-72 hours, depending on the required work. District-wide maintenance is expected to be completed in December 2024.

Note: Quintette Road, one of the major east-west corridors, was not on the original CSX closure list.
