BUFFALO, N.Y. — Sabers coach Lindy Ruff said leading hitter Tage Thompson and first baseman Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen were scheduled to play against Buffalo in St. Louis on Thursday night. He was denied a home game against the St. Louis Blues.

Both remain on the day-to-day roster and are eligible to return on Saturday when the Sabers travel to play the Philadelphia Flyers.

Thompson, whose 11 goals entering the day are outside the NHL lead, suffered a lower-body injury in Monday’s 7-5 loss to Montreal. Luukkonen is dealing with what Ruff calls a “minor” ailment.

A day after being released by Anaheim, Devon Levi is expected to play against the Blues with James Reimer serving as a backup.
